Antsirabe: Silk weaving in Madagascar. I had the most wonderful time learning how to weave at a homestay with Rachelle and her family in Antsirabe. Everyone was so helpful and accomodating in helping me learn to weave, taking me through the process from washing the fibres to coning, setting up the loom and the weaving process. At the end I had the most beautiful scarf that I am so proud to wear. The family were incredibly warm and generous and welcoming, they went above and beyond to accomodate me and ensure that I was happy and comfortable. Meals were with Rachelle and her children and the family regularly took me out on excursions around the city to see the famous lake, central city architecture, market and hot springs! I couldn't recommend this experience enough. Also, I speak English and very little French and no Malagasy and everyone worked so hard to accomodate me.
