Detailed programme
The Enriquez Arte Cultural Center is a non-profit organization which aims to educate and include a local family audience. The place is also open to the entire population of Barcelona and to international projects wishing to reside in Barcelona.
A team of volunteers alternates to offer free cultural workshops in sports, artistic, well-being and personal development fields. Thus, through participatory diversity and proximity, innovative teaching methods are offered including emotional intelligence in all workshops.
Volunteers from all over the world come to discover new skills thanks to this operational work.
The association took up residence in a 1000m2 industrial warehouse that had been abandoned for years. After contacting the owner, the association legally occupied the space and obtained the license for cultural activities in the neighborhood of Nou Barris / Horta-Guinardo. Thus, with the help of other neighbors, an active team of volunteers has gradually established itself by offering the opening of this space every day of the week.
It is therefore a participatory community that makes this cultural centre a reality.
All the people who stay at the centre are invited to participate in a process of sociocratic development, where collective intelligence is a fundamental factor for the success of this project.
Through this process and the collaboration of all those involved in the life of the center, an international community is created with a sense of local belonging.
Two types of volunteering are possible: committed volunteering (three months) and supportive volunteering (1 week or more).
What's more, the association has recently developed its volunteering programme into a hybrid of volunteering and practical training in community building. You'll work on community projects, with the theoretical support of thematic courses structured around three themes:
- Community development
- Sustainable development
- Personal development
This programme of courses alongside volunteering includes 35 hours of volunteering, broken down as follows:
- 7 hours of lectures
- 16 hours of thematically guided volunteer practice.
- 7 hours of community building (co-existence tasks + meetings).
- 5 hours of communal living (cleaning and maintenance of community spaces).
Supportive volunteering gives you the chance to take part in community action while enjoying the city of Barcelona.
