Participatory world cuisine workshops led by expatriate cooks in France to encourage encounters between new arrivals and local Montpellier residents.
Detailed programme
Since 2021, the Montpellier-based association Blablacooks has been offering participatory world cuisine workshops run by expatriate cooks in France in order to encourage encounters between new arrivals and local Montpellier residents. Some cooks have been living in France for a few years, others have arrived recently.
There are between 6 and 10 participants per workshop. The workshops are led by an amateur or professional cook of foreign origin and a facilitator who helps the cook and acts as a link between him/her and the participants.
The interest of the Blablacooks workshops: To encourage intercultural "living together", meetings between locals and newcomers in a friendly atmosphere. To bring together old and new Montpellier residents around the table, a place for sharing. To encourage social cohesion and fight against prejudice. To encourage the creation of links and dialogues between cultures, formal and informal multicultural networks.
The workshops allow you to discover, enjoy, have fun, learn, meet and do things together.
For whom: For cooks who wish to share their culture of origin through cooking and meet "locals" in the Montpellier metropolis while practising oral French. For participants with a passion for cooking, for people from Montpellier who are curious about others, to meet local people.
A brief history of the workshops already held:
- Turkish cuisine with Hala Sodan
- Ukrainian cuisine with Inna
