    Detailed programme

The program takes place on the Malaysian island of Borneo. Borneo is a place of great biodiversity, but the regression of the tropical rainforest poses a threat to many plant and animal species.

That's why our partner, APE Malaysia, is developing programs to raise awareness of these problems and the means to solve them. The organization focuses on the conservation and improvement of animal welfare, both in captivity and in the wild.

As a volunteer, you'll be assisting the sun bears, known as Malaysian bears, without ever having any direct contact with them, and being supervised throughout the project. You'll spend two weeks accompanying the janitors in their daily tasks of husbandry and making objects to help rehabilitate the sun bears, before releasing them back into the wild.

In this way, you'll care for the world's smallest bears, cleaning their dens, enriching their environment and feeding them. As well as improving the bears' living conditions, you'll learn more about the bears undergoing rehabilitation and the process of releasing them back into the wild. Living alongside the local population will also enable you to discover and understand Malaysian culture.
